Just some granola. It’s not the food that gets me, it’s whatever I’ve read/seen recently, plus the straight-up weirdness that is my brain.

It contained SO many elements, including but not limited to: gemology; the younger set of Kardashians, knowledge of whom is exclusively from my years on Jez; Robert Downey, Jr., as a Javert-figure tracking the gem-obsessed matriarch of the clan; lots of green clothes; quintuple-crosses and familial loyalty; a big-ass ruby; a women’s choir transformed into a titty show by my high school choir...

I am so damn full of food.
Afghani food. Holy moly. So good. So full. The new Islamic Art galleries at the Met Museum are nice. The art itself is spectacular, but that was always the case; the new digs are a definite improvement, to be sure. My niece was really determined to see the abstract art, but was very bored with it when we got there… and the postcards she selected as souveniers were almost all...

The Met Opera Announces its 2012-13 Season! →
Only a couple of things I’m super-excited about, but that’s in part because I’ve already seen a bunch of the repertoire, and, because it’s the 200th birthdays of both Verdi and Wagner, there’s not much room for the 20th-century stuff I prioritize. Some of the less-commonly revived stuff coming back this year is great; the Met premieres are quite exciting; and a...

celluloidlove replied to your post: @celluloidlove I think it should be permanently retired. Patti did it perfectly, and it hurts anyone else who tries to sing it correctly. Or they sing it half-assed and it’s awful. Plus it’s the reason Follies had to close, so there’s that too. I dunno, I think it can be done fine, but maybe not in the current Broadway climate, where you have to use...

Don’t get me wrong—‘70’s Lloyd Webber is the only decent Lloyd Webber, and I worship Evita, I really do. But. Overkill. Especially since, as much hype as this Eva has garnered over the past however many years, I’m not terribly enthusiastic. She’s a good dancer! Well, okay, but Eva isn’t a dance role. She’s an incredible actress! Profoundly necessary....

We’re getting simultaneous revivals of Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar? This feels like a mistake. There’s only so much ’70s Lloyd Webber you want in one place at one time.
