14Kgold on Jezebel in the days of yore, and some others; you can call me 14K. Back in my ancestral stomping grounds of NYC, teaching, editing, feeding a music addiction. I love learning; if you can teach me something, I'm all ears. I'd love to teach you what I can in return. Nota bene: I can accept an initial lack of knowledge, but I'm too old to tolerate bullshit. If you prefer willful ignorance, this ain't the place for you.

I think it should be permanently retired. Patti did it perfectly, and it hurts anyone else who tries to sing it correctly. Or they sing it half-assed and it’s awful. Plus it’s the reason Follies had to close, so there’s that too.

I dunno, I think it can be done fine, but maybe not in the current Broadway climate, where you have to use established non-Broadway stars to make revivals happen. Eva *can* be played differently from Patti, and it would be interesting to see that, and to see it done well. But you need a titanic singer regardless, not just someone who can mark their way through the numbers.

And I’d like to see a Che who isn’t a recycled pop star.
